The tenth Situation Report provides an update on IOM’s response to the 24 June earthquakes in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela as of 9 July. It also includes the priorities of IOM’s Funding Appeal to scale up urgent assistance.
Highlights
In La Guaira, IOM and its partners strengthened assistance in transitory camps. At César Nieves Stadium, they continued improving spaces and distributed tarpaulins and kitchen sets, while at José María Vargas Sports Centre, services were expanded to include dental and psychiatric care, reaching 290 health and mental health consultations.
To date, IOM has reached 4,526 unique individuals through 7,273 assistance and distribution services, mainly in health, shelter and site coordination, and protection.
IOM maintains its USD 98 million Funding Appeal to assist 850,000 people and support 140 entities between July and December 2026.
IOM Activities
IOM continues supporting prioritized transitory camps in La Guaira, including César Nieves Stadium, José María Vargas Sports Centre and Playa Grande, through site coordination, shelter, registration, WASH, health and mental health, protection and information management.
At César Nieves Stadium, 341 tarpaulins and 334 kitchen sets were distributed. To date, 830 tarpaulins and 825 kitchen sets have been delivered.
At José María Vargas Sports Centre, a team of 12 professionals provided 290 health and mental health consultations, including dental care, internal medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology and obstetrics, psychiatry and psychology.
Registration continued at César Nieves Stadium, covering 489 families and 1,479 individuals, and at Playa Grande, covering 54 families and 160 individuals. Progress was also made on the Rapid Needs Assessment and on information management support to the Infrastructure and Temporary Accommodation Working Group.
IOM Planned Response
IOM will continue focusing on the improvement and management of transitory camps, WASH, health and MHPSS, protection, registration, needs assessments, mobility monitoring and inter-agency coordination.
Additional funding would enable IOM to scale up shelter assistance, essential items, early recovery, protection, health and mental health, data, DTM and coordination support.
