HIGHLIGHT
- State of Disaster declaration remain enforce for Western and Choiseul Provinces. Other affected provinces remain under National Disaster Council (NDC) Non-Declared arrangements.
- Government has approved SBD$10 million as emergency support to enable National and Provinces quickly mobilise response efforts and supplies to affected communities.
- The NDC’s N-DOC and P-DOC frameworks, as outlined in the National Disaster Management Plan 2018, serve as the primary mechanisms for coordinating and managing the response to the TC Maila disaster.
- The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) remains on Full Activation including Western and Choiseul Provincial EOCs (PEOCs).
- Western Province has established Gizo and Munda as main operational hubs (Axis) for deployment of emergency relief supports to affected communities. Choiseul Province main operational hub (Axis) is only in Taro through the PEOC.
- Minister responsible for disaster management accompanied by the Australian High Commissioner and the Director of NDMO, pay visit Western Province Premier, P-DOC and PEOC on Wednesday 15 April 2026.
- Prime Minister of Solomon Islands pay visit to Western and Choiseul from 18th – 20th April 2026.
- Government has deployed the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Guardian Class Patrol Boat (GCPB 05 – Ghizo) to support with Western and Choiseul Provinces disaster responses.
- Development and Donor Partners have activated their disaster response mechanism supporting and contributing to the Solomon Islands Government with Assessments, Logistics, Relief Supplies and Finance towards TC Maila response efforts.
- Solomon Islanders, Private Sector and Businesses has also mobilised support in terms of Food Relief and Non-Food Items toward TC Maila disaster response efforts.
- NDC Rapid Response Tool, the National Emergency Response Team has been activated and deployed to Western and Choiseul Provinces to support with coordination, assessment and emergency relief operations.
