The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM)’s Potential Migrants Survey (PMS) collects detailed data on the motivations, expectations, and decision-making processes of potential migrants (Afghan and Pakistani nationals) travelling via Pakistan en route to other destinations other than Pakistan or Afghanistan. While the survey covers both Pakistani and Afghan nationals, this report solely presents the findings for Pakistani nationals.

Findings from the interviews completed with Afghan potential migrants are presented in a separate report. Data collected through PMS aims to inform policy and programmatic responses to migration, as well as support the development of effective migration management strategies by building a comprehensive profile of potential migrants. Additionally, the assessment identifies the potential challenges and vulnerabilities migrants may face along their journeys, with the aim of enhancing the protection of their rights.
