In March 2026, DDD conducted a household-based Multisectoral Needs Assessment (MSNA) across five locations in Deir Ezzor governorate, Al-Mayadin, Deir Ezzor city, Al-Bukamal, Al-Husseiniya, and Hajin, covering urban, rural, and semi-rural areas. The assessment surveyed 200 households and 1,246 household members following major political and security shifts in Northeast Syria.
The assessment aimed to identify key humanitarian needs, vulnerabilities, and barriers to services across health, food security, nutrition, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), protection, water and sanitation, and return dynamics, with particular attention to returnee households, internally displaced persons, pregnant and lactating women, and other high-risk groups.
A total of 200 households participated in the assessment, ensuring representation across gender, displacement status, and area type.
Overall findings indicate a severe convergence of health, economic, and psychosocial vulnerability shaped by prolonged displacement, weakened service infrastructure, and deteriorating purchasing power. Protection risks and unmet needs are multiple and overlapping, disproportionately affecting women, children, and households with caregiving responsibilities.
