This document aims to provide guidance for service providers responding to the needs of male survivors of acts of forced intimacy.

Male survivors often face specific barriers to accessing help, and their needs are often overlooked.

It encourages a compassionate and respectful approach and provides programming strategies to ensure that services respond to their needs.

Acts of forced intimacy against males occur in both conflict and non-conflict settings. Though often underreported and difficult to grasp its full scope and nature, it’s crucial to remember that women and girls are disproportionately affected by gender-based violence, including sexual violence and conflict-related sexual violence. Support services for male survivors should be provided without reducing or impacting existing GBV services for women and girls.
